Cy Gavin è nato nel 1985 a Pittsburgh, vive e lavora nella Hudson River Valley di New York.
Le sue opere sono incluse, tra le altre, nelle seguenti collezioni museali: Baltimore Museum of Art; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; Studio Museum in Harlem, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa; Fondazione Memmo, Roma; Fondation Louis Vuitton, Parigi.
